Terry Norton-Wright
I make art because I can’t sing.

I make art because, like music, art is a powerful tool for communicating and
sharing one’s experiences and ideas, and for inspiring and connecting people
from all walks of life regardless of language and culture.

It is important to me that my art be about something. My work involves the creation of very personal paintings and objects that deal with various sociopolitical subjects like religion, marriage, motherhood, and identity.

In making my art, I usually begin by writing about what I want to say as a way to
clarify my thoughts and to get to the core of my ideas. Images come to me as I explore a given concept and I usually begin with a sketch or a photograph as the
impetus for a given work.
